About Reword

Reword is an educational tool and browser extension designed to help young people recognize and reduce cyberbullying in real-time. Originally developed in Australia as a collaboration between Leo Burnett Melbourne and the National Youth Mental Health Foundation (Headspace), the tool uses a "red line" (similar to a spell-checker) to strike through words or phrases that are identified as insulting or bullying. This visual cue acts as an immediate prompt for the user to reflect on their language before they hit "send." The AI model is trained on a massive database of harmful language and slang used by teenagers, ensuring it stays current with evolving online behaviors. For the public good, Reword serves as a preventative mental health tool, fostering empathy and digital citizenship among students. By interrupting the impulsive nature of online aggression, the tool helps create a safer, kinder internet for everyone. It is widely used in schools as part of anti-bullying curricula and is free for individual users.
