E-Nable AI
AI design for 3D-printed prosthetics.
About E-Nable AI
e-NABLE is a global network of volunteers using their 3D printers, design skills, and personal time to create free 3D-printed prosthetic hands and arms for those in need. The goal is to provide these assistive devices to underserved populations around the world, particularly children who outgrow expensive traditional prosthetics. The movement began in 2011 when a South African carpenter and an American prop maker collaborated on a mechanical finger. It was formally organized as "e-NABLE" in 2013 by Jon Schull. Volunteers operate as an unofficial confederation of approximately 200 chapters. The devices are not fully functional medical prosthetics but simple grasping tools that allow users to hold water bottles, ride bikes, or play sports. All designs are open-source and provided free of charge to recipients.
