Code.org AI Lab
Free AI learning platform for K-12.
About Code.org AI Lab
AI Lab is an educational tool developed by Code.org to introduce K-12 students to the fundamental concepts of machine learning in a safe and supportive environment. It is part of a broader curriculum designed to demystify how AI works by allowing students to train their own machine learning models using real datasets. The interface is entirely browser-based and designed for non-technical beginners; students choose a dataset (such as identifying healthy vs. unhealthy plants or predicting movie preferences), select features for the AI to focus on, and then "train" the model. Once trained, students can test their model and see how well it generalizes to new data. A critical component of the AI Lab experience is the focus on "AI Ethics," where students are prompted to consider how bias in their chosen data might lead to unfair or inaccurate results. By making the "black box" of machine learning transparent, AI Lab empowers the next generation to be informed creators and critics of AI technology.
